Workshops
< Korean Music Workshop with Dance Improvisation >
Dongwon Lee / Byungyu Roh
Experience the textures of Korean traditional music through improvisational movement, exploring rhythm, emotion, and space as sound and motion become one.
Participants will feel the subtle nuances of nonghyeon (string vibrations) and jangdan (rhythmic cycles) flowing through the body, translating music into movement.
This workshop encourages spontaneous responses to sound, fostering a dialogue between music and motion and helping each artist discover their unique expressive voice.
< Korean Traditional Dance Workshop : Salpuri Dance >
Seongok Lim
Salpuri, one of the representative forms of Korean traditional dance, is characterized by delicate, refined, and controlled technique.
Embodying simplicity, emotional depth, and a strong sense of improvisation, Salpuri prioritizes expressing one’s inner world over outward display.
The dance reaches the height of Jeong-Jung-Dong aesthetics, where stillness and motion exist in perfect balance.
Korean Dance Workshop <Breath Technique>
Moonea Choi / Soyeon Lee
Discover how breath animates movement, exploring tension, release, rhythm, and center to uncover your natural movement language.
By focusing on in-breaths, out-breaths, and the pauses between, participants experience how breath becomes the origin of energy that moves the body.
The workshop guides artists to notice subtle changes in rhythm, dynamics, and energy, cultivating awareness of how breath shapes expression and physical presence.
< Korean Contemporary Dance Workshop : Body Energy and Movement Textures >
Hwanhee Kim
Explore movement that begins from sensing the body’s internal energies and the waves that arise within them.
The class unfolds through states such as connection, interruption, circulation, and release, combined with texture cues like softness, roughness, lightness, and heaviness.
Using these states and textures as foundations, participants transform internal sensations into embodied movement and expressive variation.
This workshop opens pathways for each artist’s movement to evolve in new directions, enhancing physical sensitivity, functional capacity, and creative potential.
Korean Dance Workshop <Jeong • Jung • Dong>
Hyunsun Kim
Blend traditional Korean dance with contemporary creation, emphasizing stillness in motion, curved lines, and unique Korean rhythms.
Participants will explore how classic movements and breath combine with modern choreographic ideas, creating new possibilities within the traditional form.
This workshop highlights the beauty of Jeong-Jung-Dong, where pauses and fluidity coexist, allowing dancers to experience Korean movement aesthetics in
both grounded and expressive ways.
